Long live Francis M.

He was called by a lot of names: FrancisM, FM, Kiko, King of Rap and Man from Manila, among others.

A year ago today Francis Magalona died.

His widow, Pia Magalona, dropped a message on her Plurk account about his first year of being Francis-less:

Saturday, March 6. I've been Francis-less for exactly a year today. I hope you're content wherever you are now, hoo. Just lemme know, ok.

Then in her Facebook account, this was her status message:

TOMORROW, on URLife, I'm dedicating my entire program to The Music of FrancisM. Tune in as I play his songs, most of which went UNNOTICED by the public, as we weren't given ANY airplay by the radio stations because they thought our sound was too DIFFERENT. I beg to disagree. Listen up and YOU be the judge. There's more... to FrancisM than Mga Kababayan and Kaleidoscope World. SUNDAYS, 8-11AM on 92.3FM ♥

There were fans who campaigned to have #francisM a trending topic on Twitter.

Make #francisM a trending topic! IN MEMORY OF FRANCIS MAGALONA! (October 4, 1964 - March 6, 2009) Please RT. :)

Reading from the tweets of Francis' wife Pia, daughters Maxene and Saab and son Elmo, Eat Bulaga did a tribute in today's episode. Francis used to be part of this noontime show for years until he couldn't go on because of his sickness.

The Francis M Clothing Co. merchandise has been hugely popular since the demise of this popular rapper. You can check out the merchandise in its Multiply account. Even the fastest rapper on the land, Gloc-9, was sporting an FMCC shirt during the MYX Music Awards 2010.

This was the tweetphoto that daughter Maxene sent today to showcase the new designs of FMCC:

Speaking of MYX Music Awards 2010, the song Higante which Francis M sang with Pupil frontman Ely Buendia won in the Favorite Collaboration category. The award was received by his daughter Saab.

Long live Francis M. Thank you for the music!
